Blog Update

I’ve spent the last few weeks focusing on studying marketing and virality, to try to help the spread of r/K via other venues. I’ve come up with a couple of strategies, the first (and easier of which) I am going to roll out in the next few weeks.

As part of this, the book will be free in Kindle form in the coming weeks, though to find out when it will be free you will need to put your email in a form on the main index page, which will itself have more of a carnival-barker feel, designed to appeal to the less scientifically minded. My original strategy was to sell books to pay for marketing, but I am hoping this will work better, since everyone who visits the site will both get to help friends get something of value for free (a K-urge), and spread this work, helping Conservatism and Conservatives (another K-urge). Additional book proceeds which come from any paper books sold will go to marketing the new e-freebie/virality trade.

I won’t spam you or send you regular newsletters at the email you give, nor will the email be shared. If you read this blog you know I am not a marketer, so the only purpose of the email list will be to notify you when the book will be free. Once you get the book, you can click a link in the email and you will be automatically taken off the list. I only ask that if you like the book, you tell others about it, and try to get them to pull down a free book. It is not a bad deal, and I hope it will speed the spread and acceptance of the r/K/rabbit/wolf meme throughout our political debate.

Finally, the blog is going to stay at this url, but you will not be able to get to it from the main index page of the site, which will be turned into its own micro-marketing site. The goal is to promote action, and direct it into taking a free book and promoting the site in return. Offering the blog there would just offer an unproductive action (going and getting lost reading the blog) which will not notify others of the site, and which will divert people from taking a free book, and sharing the site. So either bookmark the blog if you want to come back, or remember that the address of the blog is just the domain, a slash, and the word blog. You will also still be able to find the blog through google.

Now that I am finished amassing the information I needed, and putting together the new pages to execute the new plan, I hope to be back to blogging soon. If Aurini, Matt Forney, or Vox see this, and are curious about what I am trying or why, just drop me an email. This first step is nothing big, just an obtuse concept really, but if you want the thoughts, the code, and plug-in info to automate much of it, I’m happy to share.

I spent the entire day reading your blog and some reviews of your book.

I have been looking for a way to help fight gun control.

Brilliant stuff that the majority of the world isn’t ready for; even the “conservative right” is more left these days than it is right.

It kind of reminds me of a star trek episode where everyone on the ship has succumbed to some horrible space disease and the one shipmate who was off doing something else for a few days returns and has to save everyone.

I’ll do my part to spread the word and administer the antidote.
