Free Basic Income For Parents

Free basic income would seem bad in all forms at first, however…

It wouldn’t be the first progressive idea to be taken on by conservatives. A group of Bundestag members in the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) have proposed offering parents a basic state income — independent of their own financial situation.

The fixed monthly payment, the exact amount of which was not mentioned, would be tied to child care costs and would be subject to social insurance contributions.

The payment, part of what the CDU calls its “family pact,” would also be paid out from birth until the child starts school, regardless of whether the parents send their children to kindergartens or other daycare centers.

“The family pact is a completely new approach to giving families true freedom to choose,” said CDU MP Sylvia Pantel, who has launched the initiative along with a handful of fellow MPs in her party (which is led by Chancellor Angela Merkel).

My initial gut reaction would be that any free basic income is bad. If you were to do it however, it should be modified to favor only two parent, heterosexual, married families in which at least one parent is employed, and only natural born citizens. The nation should not be encouraging people to be having children they do not have the finances to take care of. But encouraging married citizens who are actively employed to have children, rather than importing hostile foreigners, would not be such a bad idea. It would be better than the present situation which sees “baby mommas” in the inner cities having kids specifically for the increased welfare benefits that each will provide.

All of these incentives are double edged swords, however. Ultimately you want to evolve the species toward a K-strategist who can absorb the blow of free resources, and still have a desire to have children and rear a family in decent numbers, without any need for external motivation. When you create an external incentive to try and speed that process, you encourage those who would otherwise not have that urge to multiply as well, and you dilute the effects of Darwin.

I am continually fascinated by how the world is designed to creep toward the ultimate form of K, but only on its own schedule. Try and speed things along, and you will only end up with an inferior product.

Tell others about r/K Theory, because creating policy without understanding it is just crazy

Trap. Nice family being subsidized, married, Dad is working, everything we believe is good. Mom gets the itch to ride the carousel and ditches Dad. Raise your hand if you think the check is going to stop. The speeches from the Progs almost write themselves don’t they? Punishing the poor helpless children because Dad was a jerk and ‘abandoned’ his family. They might even ‘compromise’ and let the subsidy only be replaced with equal or greater benefits delivered under the names of other programs but Pre Trumpening, when they were winning and believed themselves unbeatable, they would have just rammed it down our throats straight up and then used it as a lever to make things ‘equal’ between divorced single moms and baby mommas and give them the subsidy too since a single mom is juts as good as having a useless dad around.

It might work in a society with much stronger reinforcement of patriarchy.

This and more. The fact of the matter is that the western world has abandoned the very concept of marriage. We only have pretend marriages these days, they mean nothing. They only exist as consumer products, something to fulfill a roleplaying fantasy and then be discarted, thus the need to extend the right to marry to same-sex couples. You can’t promote something that doesn’t actually exist.

When a woman can, for no reason, dump a husband yet keep his income, cheat and not be punished in any way, and know that any attempt by the husband to discipline her for whatever reason would be legally seen as domestic abuse and possibly land him in jail… marriage no longer exists as an institution.

Germans reproduction rate is 1.3 … so I think it’s about time they prefer their own child instead of rapefugees.
