German K-strategists are hitting the black market to buy guns:
Germans have been arming themselves with illegal guns and grenades to protect themselves from migrants.
A website calling itself Migrant Fright was discreetly selling what it describes as first-class quality goods so that its customers can avoid ‘annoying bureaucratic hurdles or annoying paperwork’.
The website has since been closed down, but Germans who have already received the weapons in the post, are practicing firing the guns in their back gardens in preparation for potentially aiming it at a prospective terrorist…

It is good of the government to respond so aggressively to protect the lives of migrant rapists and murderers. How many of the Calais rapists are imprisoned again?
r-strategists want the migrants killing everyone back uniformly. That is what keeps rabbits r-selected in the wild, and it is what will cull for an r-selected society in humans, if they can maintain it long enough. That is not a coincidence. This is instinctual.
Regardless, the Apocalypse is coming and the K-strategy is growing. These people need to move to one geographic area where they can gain some measure of authority over law enforcement, to make enforcement of gun regulations against innocent citizens verboten.
Still, I can see the allure of a good handgun, even if illegal, when surrounded by savages. If handguns are not possible then the citizens need to find a way to improvise weapons.
Pepper spray is a great opening option, so long as you are conscious that it can drift back at you if not used properly.
The old heavy walking cane can be useful, but I would try to get a sharp point, maybe edged, on the end. It should probably be shielded from both view and being dulled by a plastic cap of sorts. I would also vaseline the shaft by the end, to make it difficult to grab and wrestle away.
A good short spear that can puncture and/or cut organs would be a nifty way to back off savages, so long as you used the prison shanking strategy – a good flurry of lots of fast in and outs all at once. Disarmament is very difficult when faced with a person moving the weapon fast enough in and out to perform five to eight stabs per second. Interrupting the stab-cycle to get a hand hold and begin trying to wrest the weapon away may mean taking three of four stabs at the get-go, which is more than most r-strategists would be willing to endure. Add in the distance ability of a short spear, and it would be quite intimidating.
Getting training with knives can also allow a decent measure of lethality in close. Facing a knife most worry about their core being attacked by a stab, rather than their outer neck, inner thighs, underarms, inner elbows, inner/back knees, and so on catching a good slash from a punching/pulling movement with a razor-sharp knife held for slashing. A slash hitting an artery at any such point can degrade energy and kill quite rapidly.
Zip guns are also easy to make, though as single shots, they have limitations. Still, with a single mugger, a 7-inch barreled rod firing a 1 oz shotgun slug would be a decent stand-off weapon to frighten and send a thug packing, and I could see packing three or four.
3D printing/machining will be a huge advance though compared to all of the above. We are working toward a day when you will be able to acquire a file for your computer, which will result in a printed or machined weapon that is quite serviceable. It may very well become commonly available just in time for the Apocalypse.
But the real solution you need for civilization is an armed and unified populace. Rolling alone will always be a huge risk, because you can be blinded with pepper spray in seconds, before you even know an attack is afoot. Until criminals know they face a united front, and a surprise attack on one civilian will immediately generate ten simultaneous surprise counter-attacks from nearby civilians on the criminal, criminals will always be looking for the weak members of the herd, and surprises to execute on them that their targets will not see coming.
German K-strategists need to in-group, because this war is bigger than any single individual’s fate.

You keep it in your car so that you can thump your tires and make sure that they aren’t flat, just like a trucker does. And if you have other problems, you might be able to solve them with it too, just like a trucker does.
That thing, if you get one with a lead or steel band around the end, hits like a warhammer. There is no defending against it. If you try to block it with a forearm, it will break your forearm. If you try to dodge and take it on your shoulder rather than your head, then you now have a broken collarbone.

I also think a good spear is an underappreciated weapon: one designed primarily for close combat but if needed could be thrown. Very easy to make, effective even in unskilled hands and its reach gives it a good advantage over other melee weapons and at least lessens the advantage multiple attackers have over one target, even if its slight. Something between a Greek dory and and an African assegai is what I picture. Also good for “walkin’ the Earth and shit” like Caine did.
Vox Day did a periscope video of antifa skirmisher tactics that your readers may find useful. It details their tactics to draw individuals out singly so they can be attacked (steal a MAGA hat and run into the crowd, when the hat owner gives chase he’s surrounded and waylaid) and how to defeat them (carry multi use weapons like iron buckled belts and don’t go to those events except in large groups)
I was thinking about these skirmishers as well. Perhaps in addition to defensive precautions perhaps have pre-modified things that leftists would obviously be triggered and micro-aggressed by to swipe (e.g. a MAGA hat) and allow them to be taken which contain tracking devices. You can get a lot of battery life and increased security by a pulsing signal every 5-10 minutes rather than real-time. Most would probably be discarded or burned or something, but the desire to collect trophies is strong in these idiots.

Everyone seems to gravitate towards firearms when the bow or crossbow have definite advantages. Firstly, once you open fire you lose to varying degrees OPSEC. In any somewhat enclosed space you also lose hearing. My favorite is that bow projectiles are in many cases recyclable or can be made.
With the proper equipment silent kill with sniper like precision can be achieved. Additionally if facing multiple assailants, you can effectively kill in many cases without alerting the other “targets.”
There’s a reason cowboys beat the indians. The difference between bows and guns is a huge part of why.

in standoff battles with roughly equivalent forces, firearms are an advantage. many times they can shift advantage to the smaller force. different tools for different situations. even for routine hunting, every shot that you fire echos and could give notice to outsiders that someone lives in an area. this is especially important if you created a bug out residence out of view of the road system. security involves stealth as much as strength. the quiet kill is the better kill.
