Liberals are Socially Focused on Group Dynamics

From Obama’s Sixty-Minutes interview:

“A year ago, when we did this interview, there was some saber-rattling between the United States and Russia on the Ukrainian border,” Kroft said. “Now it’s also going on in Syria. You said a year ago that the United States, America leads, that we are the indispensable nation. Mr. Putin seems to be challenging that leadership.”

“In what way? Let’s think about this,” Obama challenged.

Kroft noted Russia’s expanded military action in Syria and its other military operations in the Middle East, something Russia hasn’t done since World War II.

“So that’s leading, Steve?” Obama replied. “When I came into office, Ukraine was governed by a corrupt ruler who was a stooge of Mr. Putin. Syria was Russia’s only ally in the region.” Obama added that Putin is devoting his troops to the region “to barely hold together… his sole ally.”

“He’s challenging your leadership, Mr. President. He’s challenging your leadership,” Kroft said.

Again, Obama challenged that claim.

“I’ve got to tell you, if you think that running your economy into the ground and having to send troops in in order to prop up your only ally is leadership, then we’ve got a different definition of leadership,” the president replied.

This is illuminating because like much of leftist behavior this is projection of the leftist’s inner Achilles heel. Note how Obama’s entire focus is on how many people he feels he has “turned” on Putin. Putin is kicking Obama’s ass left and right, doing whatever he wants based solely on his willingness to deploy militarily and take his objectives. Putin could care less if Estonia and Latvia are waving fists at him as he takes Crimea. He has Crimea.

This shows an effective way to take Obama down in an interview. Just as Obama seeks to argue about how his enemies are out-grouped, show how Putin is out-grouping him. Discuss Russia’s negotiations with Saudia Arabia. Show how Israel is allying with Russia. Discuss how American-backed rebels are surrendering to the Syrian government to get on Russia’s good side. If you want to drive the shiv in, point out how impotent Obama has been to stop ISIS, and how Putin has done more in a week than Obama could accomplish in years.

But moreover, picture in your own mind, having your Presidential authority questioned over Putin rolling militarily through the Mideast. Would you immediately begin saying Putin is powerless because he only has one ally? Would you make that case as the Russia military is blowing things up and killing people, including the very people you spent millions training and arming?

Liberalism is a totally different thought process. Inherent to it is a drive to ignore reality and shift mental focus toward metrics that are, to any sane individual, totally irrelevant to the questions at hand.

Apocalypse cometh™, but it is OK. Putin has it all in hand.
