Police Sniffer Dog Sniffs Out Porn On Hard Drives?

I thought this was humor, but the article is real, even if the dog is not:

A 17-month-old Labrador retriever named Ruger is the latest cop to join the fight against hoarders of kiddie porn after being purchased for $11,000 by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio.

Since Sept. 7, the cute black pooch has been assigned to a K-9 unit of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, using his snout to sniff out hard drives containing a chemical agent that leads them to child porn.

There has always been the story that when Law Enforcement wants to search something they bring out the sniffer dog, and then just have it sit, and say it has a hit on something. Bu this would be an entirely new twist on that old legend.

Whether the Sheriff’s Office was duped (less likely), or whether the NY Post got sucked in (more likely), increasingly the world is more and more like the movie Idiocracy.

‘Tards are everywhere these days.

The official story is that the dog is trained to detect the odor of electronics, to find drives hidden under floors and inside mattresses and such.

The reality is that the dog is likely trained to detect when his handler wants him to alert.

The dog doesn’t sniff porn, he sniffs out electronic devices in places where one wouldn’t normally keep them. At higher concentrations, we too can smell the fumes given off by those green printed circuit boards.
