Rabbits Hate Objective Metrics of Fitness

George Washington University will no longer require that students submit their ACT or SAT scores for most freshman admissions.

Dean of Admissions Karen Stroud Felton said in a statement Monday that university administrators were concerned that below-average test scores were leading some otherwise strong students to not apply to the school…

The change was recommended by a task force on access and success that university President Steven Knapp formed in early 2014…

According to the National Center for Fair and Open Testing, or FairTest, more than 125 private colleges and universities featured in U.S. News and World Report rankings now have test-optional admission policies.

Task force on access and success. Right out of Orwell. Ministry of Truth, Ministry of Peace. Eliminate tests, to create more capable, successful students.

Rabbits instinctively find objective measures of fitness horrifying and unfair. This is something burned into their very personalities by evolution. Think hard enough, and you see what happened to the rabbits who didn’t fear objective measures of their own fitness, to produce this result.

This only works when resources are free, and success doesn’t matter. Right now these sub-par students can coast through school and graduate, and then use their degree to get a job.

If resources are scarce, then success becomes important. When that occurs, businesses will stop recognizing degrees from subpar schools, instead only hiring graduates from proven schools. As a result, schools will begin to try to produce quality graduates, to guard the reputation of their school and confer value on their degree. To do this, they will use all objective metrics of fitness to find the smartest students, and they will rigorously cull their students for objective measures of success in learning their material.

There are a lot of differences between the r-society and the K-society which can only be explained through r/K Selection. This is why I don’t worry too much about whether everyone will see the world in terms of r and K in a hundred years. As people hear of this, and see it play out before them in the real world, they realize this is the only means of explaining the myriad of bizarre conditions you see in America today.

Once r/K Selection is recognized as the origin of our political debate, I really don’t see how any society will allow itself to knowingly embrace r, given the massive failure of the civilization it is absolutely destined to produce.
