The Empire Continues to Fall

The hallmark of a crumbling empire is the onset of blatant corruption. Its tolerance betrays a populace whose amygdala function is just too degraded to experience outrage and drive action at even the most egregious of outrages.

In America, shadowy groups colluded to throw Sharyl Atkisson, an innocent reporter, in prison by uploading classified documents to her computer. The media won’t even discuss what is clearly the most Soviet-esque of tactics, presumably out of fear.

At the same time, it has now come out that Bill Clinton was claiming his speaking fees from Chinese companies as tax-exempt charitable contributions.

It acknowledged in response to POLITICO’s questions that it mischaracterized as foundation donations money from the China Overseas Real Estate Development and the U.S.-Islamic World Conference. That money was actually honoraria paid for Bill Clinton speeches by those entities, said foundation officials, who added this week those were the only mistakes “we are aware of.”

Maybe I’m off, but I think a normal citizen would go to jail for doing something like that. Yet we know Clinton will not even get an audit.

There is an old saying, “The founders would have been shooting by now.” The founders were adapted to a world where if they saw something which tripped their amygdala, and didn’t address it, they would have ended up dead. They were adapted to harshness – and it had conditioned them to act. Once developed, that cognitive trait would bleed over, triggering action in the face of even minor irritations that were not immediately threatening. Yes, they would do extreme things like start shooting before their lives were in immediate danger, but they would also produce greatness, by not tolerating anything but greatness, and taking action to make everyone else not tolerate anything but greatness. You can feel their absence in our society, particularly in these times, as everything comes apart.

The collapse of the nation cannot be averted by any form of purely human intervention. The events to come will solely be determined by factors external to the humans upon which they will operate. If external harshness in some form returns, and due to it people grow accustomed to feeling their amygdala twitch and then acting to correct what is irritating them, then the nation will be saved as that trait is developed, and begins to bleed over. WWII did this in abundance, but hopefully, we will not see anything like that.

The question is, will the harshness come early, fix what is wrong in the people, and leave enough of a federal government to be saved by the newly enabled populace, or will the harshness arrive after the federal government has so deteriorated that saving it is beyond the possible.

I increasingly think it will be the latter, leaving the United States a coalition of nation-states bound by treaty. Ironically, that will afford a governmental structure incredibly similar to that which the founders initially bestowed upon us, so we will win anyway.

But until then, what a mess, and a terrible shame.

All the insanity is r driven. I can’t believe how crazy our society is. All I want is logic
and common sense, but this seems to be nearly extinct now days. I wonder if our
“culture” is the worst in human history and if it will get amazingly worse? Yes, to the latter, I suppose. The stupidity is mind blowing.

A return to the Articles of Confederation would be a good thing. It would also allow a reshuffling of populations to achieve a thorough-going racial segregation, also a good thing. Diversity + proximity = war.
