Abortion Rates Down

I didn’t predict it, but if you had asked, I would have said abortion rates will decline in the K-shift:

Abortion rates in the United States have fallen to a historic low, according to the latest data compiled by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The CDC report, which was released on Wednesday, found that the abortion rate nationwide dropped two percent between 2013 and 2014 amid the use of more effective contraception, the shuttering of many abortion clinics and an overall decline in pregnancy rates…

Continuing the steady decline over the last few years, there were only 12.1 abortions per 1,000 women of childbearing age in 2014, compared to 19.4 per 1,000 in 2008. The largest decrease was seen among pregnant teenagers, with the abortion rate for young girls declining 46 percent since 2008.

The article says teen sex is up, and this is increased contraception, but the CDC at the time said teen sex was the lowest since the post-Carter period:

Teen sex rate lowest since the 1980s, contraceptive use remains high

The number of teenagers having sex is the lowest in the last 25 years and the use of condoms among teens is slightly higher than in the last 11 years, according to a new report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

I suspect this would be a mix of declining sex drive among nascent K’s, reduced promiscuity, and increased protective urges toward children making killing them less attractive. That is combined with the remaining r-strategists going hyper-r and dodging rearing responsibilities by using contraception more assiduously.

It is possible that as the K-shift hits, there is a sorting. As in politics, where the r-strategists go hyper-r, and K-strategists head K, those prone to K reduce sexual activity, and have the children they produce, while the r’s are even more r, being more assiduous in contraception use to avoid impregnation even more.

Regardless, the numbers of abortions performed would seem a more solid reporting method describing any K-shift than self-reported sexual activity. In future shifts, it might be a good metric to look back on and examine, for those looking to time the shift for purposes of prepping or investments.

I’m surprised to see the K sex-drives and rearing drives possibly changing this early. I had assumed that early on amygdala would light up, and competitiveness, violence, and aggression would be the first K-traits to emerge. I assumed they would be accompanied by a sort of promiscuous harem-producing psychology.

But it seems inherent to the initial amygdala-stimulation is reduced sex-drive and an increased recognition of mortality’s salience that drives caring and love for the idea of offspring

Spread r/K Theory, because you like seeing morality return
