Could North Korea Have Triggered Mexico’s Earthquake?

China is afraid the testing will set off a volcano on their border:

SCIENTISTS fear a volcano on China’s border with North Korea could erupt at any moment after being triggered into life by Kim Jong-un’s nuclear missile tests…

Officials in China have now closed the popular national park next to the volcano to keep the public safe, reports the Express.

Nuclear tests from North Korea have triggered tremors in the 70-square-mile Changbaishan National Nature Reserve which neighbours the volcano.

The Chinese authorities said: “For the safety and convenience of travellers, we have temporarily closed the southern tourist zone of Changbai Mountain.

“Officials are thoroughly investigating the safety of the tourist area. The area will remain closed to the public until the potential risks disappear.”

Mount Paektu once underwent one of the most devastating eruptions in history in 946AD producing enough ash to shower Japan almost 680 miles away…

The team, led by Hong Tae-kyung, a professor in the Department of Earth System Sciences at Yonsei University, examined the impact nuclear testing has on seismic activity.

His report reads: “North Korean nuclear explosions are expected to produce pressure changes of tens to hundreds of kilopascals, causing concern over the possible triggering of a volcanic eruption.”

The real problem as I heard it described is not the shock-wave per se, but the fact that because the Earth has circular and spherical aspects to it’s topology, as well as structural variations that affect wave conduction, the waves, though they initially spread out from the blast site, can follow those aspects of topology and reconvene into a single, quite forceful, constructively reinforced shock at distant locations.

It is like a drop of water that falls into a glass of water. That drop will generate a concussive wave that will travel over the surface of the water to the outer edge of the glass, and then recoil back to the center, convening back together constructively and producing a raised point-wave that can even propel a suspended drop of water back into the air.

Since the Earth is, in space, reminiscent of a spherical drop of liquid metal suspended in weightlessness, and the tectonic plates have a sort-of elastic-circular-sheet structure to them as they float on the liquid, a nuke detonated at one point can produce an outsized effect at a distal location.

What I notice is that Mexico City is more or less opposite North Korea’s position on the Ring of Fire, and the fault line would strangely run parallel to the presumed direction the shockwave would elastically travel along the plate. When the Norks tested their last bomb, it is not impossible that the shockwave entered the tectonic plate inside the Ring of Fire, traveled to the opposite side, and jarred something loose by moving the plate inside the ring of fire, ever so slightly, while the other plate remained relatively stationary.

I had posted here regarding previous earthquake activity following on after North Korean nuclear testing.

Just having the meme of a few hundred minority (whatever that means in the memetic context) underprivileged Mexican citizens dying because of Kim Jong-Un’s recklessness in detonating nukes might be of use in UN Security council negotiations going forward. Not many liberals could oppose taking actions to help avenge poor, underprivileged Mexican minorities who were wronged so horribly by this elitist, privileged madman.

Then again if Mexico City’s plate slippage just loaded the plates in LA, and in a week 10,000 citizens of LA are dead or missing, that could change the political dynamics in unpredictable ways. If Jong-Un were blamed for that, it might make war inevitable.

Tell friends about r/K Theory, because the world is getting more chaotic every day

off topic, however you might like it. narcissists are incredibly bad judges of character from everything observed; here is a great example with one that you profiled.

In most East Asian countries, NK included, they go surname first and given name second. Jong-Un is Kim the third king of North Korea’s first name, essentially.
