I seriously doubt this guy would have helped such an operation given he lives there, but he does have a security clearance and is family to intel. My suspicion is the Deep State does heavy monitoring of anyone who has dangerous qualities, be they cops with lawful authority and local power to arrest, or intel specialists who might spot things going on in their neighborhoods.
As an intel officer, this guy also would have been susceptible to doing a “favor” to any intel op that approached him. He might have brought Cruz in as a favor, and in doing it he would have been unwittingly dropping Cruz in a controlled environment with close monitoring already in place to keep an eye on him. If I were intel, I would trust other intel even less than everyone else these days.
Then again, his story about not knowing anything seems hollow given all the police activity we know about. And how did he not know gun safes come with two sets of keys.
For now, just another interesting data point in a very strange case.

Of course, nobody can deny any of this, but I’d just add that with all the incompetence and stupidity that “officials” so often demonstrate, it’s entirely possible that even despite all the police activity concerning the shooter, nobody had bothered to tell anything to the intel guy that the kid was living with. Just sayin’.

after the death of Cruz’s mother, Cruz was placed in the guardianship of a friend of Cruz’s mom. Allegedly that woman pilfered the Cruz’s inheritance/fund set up for Cruz’s care. this according to the woman’s ex-fiance.
I haven’t see a journalist look into this angle. there also is internet hearsay that Cruz took SSRIs.
