Lowell,

That is very cool that you are doing styrofoam sand casting. I’ve looked through your video briefly and I think you need a larger bucket with the piece more deeply embedded to get better results.

You may have seen this video already, but I bring it up just in case you haven’t.

Really neat. Surprised he can do that with dry sand. Back when, you used either oil sand or green (clay+water added) sand.

I chose lost-foam specifically because it uses out of the bag playsand because I DO NOT want to deal with green sand. Or K-bond or Petrobond, or really any of the trappings of traditional casting. I am doing lost-foam because it has the lowest learning curve to get me usable machine parts. I was thinking about this the other day and I already have too many melting metal/casting vids. I always intended for the channel to be DiY CNC first and foremost, but instead I’ve had to build two casting setups.

Don’t get me wrong, metal casting is a great tool to have in your toolbox, but it’s threatening to overtake everything else.

As far as the bucket, that may be. I built the sand-casting box around one bag of sand. I’ve since had to add a bunch. The pink foam leaves a MUCH improved surface finish over the white foam that I’m using because it was free. The white foam works best for things like sprues &risers. You notice the sand in the surface of the castings in the vid? That’s why the hot-mud coatings before burying in the sand.

I’m going to be using a bucket for something that’s too tall for the box. This one will have the opposite problem from the gantry arm – instead of being very big it’s very thin. I’m not sure that the thin sections will be able to cast correctly with this method.

The first vid was the inspiration for my first furnace. I needed something bigger than what Grant built. I discovered almost immediately that plaster of paris is a horrible refractory. I built one out of red brick once and it didn’t last long either. They do not survive heat well at all. Basically I am of the opinion now that there is no good way to build a furnace without just ponying up the cash for actual refractory cement of some kind. I salvaged my cat liter furnace with Satanite and castable refractory cement for the lid. All of that is holding up and instead of fixing the furnace after each use I just use it, let it cool down, and wheel it back to it’s parking spot.

If you absolutely have to go cheap on a furnace, you should probably just go with a real earthen oven, ie regular mud. River clay if you can get some from a local stream, but otherwise just dirt and water from around your place packed into shape.

I DID consider making Grant’s hot wire cutter, and in fact I am wondering how much trouble it would be to turn my CAD files into 2D pdf’s so that people could make the patterns using glue on prints. I designed the all of the castings around being made out of flat sheets of foam board, so all the foam patterns could be cut with one of these.

To add a little to AC’s mention of Affect Psychology, or Affect Theory. I hope this helps anyone who’s interested:

It was started by a true genius by the name of Silvan S. Tomkins, who made ends meet handicapping horse-races during the Great Depression. He was famous for his accuracy, which he later attributed to being able to distinguish the facial expressions of the horses which enabled him to determine the animals’ degree of confidence. He could, for example, pick up that a male would lose to a female due to being flustered by her. As you can see, Tomkins had a natural affinity toward meaningfully parsing and contextualizing facial expressions. Despite being the primary influence and mentor of Paul Eckman (extremely famous facial expression, lie detection, body language psychologist), he gains little recognition. From what I can determine, Tomkins made all the major breakthroughs that Eckman et al. became famous for.

Despite what Wikipedia and other mainstream texts might say, those in the know attribute Tomkins as the first person to discover microexpressions and the significance thereof. When he had his first child, he was fascinated by the infant’s facial expressions and how closely they resembled that of grown adults. This led him to create a high-speed camera contraption to capture his child’s facial expression in more detail to study and parse them, as infants would represent the base human emotions far more purely than adults due to lack of nurture. This high speed camera was so loud that they had to keep it in a soundproof enclosure to keep the baby in peace.

The premise of Affect Theory is that human being posses a finite number (nine, I believe) of basic “affects”, which are proto-emotional neurological states that are hard-wired into human physiology. These affects, which you can simplistically concieve of as external stimuli and the internal affective response to these stimuli, are where feelings and emotions are derived from. These affects are what are so purely seen in the faces of infants. The more complex adult facial expressions can be explained by our more complex combining of various affects as we consciously and subconsciously process external and internal stimuli as we live out life. Tomkins strongly believed that the face was the direct window into the soul, so to speak, as a direct interface to the body’s affective processes.

Later, psychologists such as Eckman and his colleagues confirmed Tomkins’ position, by finding that the neurons on the face are almost directly mapped from the emotive/affective elements of the brain. This is the key to Affect Theory. In essence, everything emotive/affective going on inside someone’s head is directly reflected in the face through the concept of the split-second microexpressions that Tomkins discovered by studying his infant child.

It would be interesting to see how wearing masks affects facial expressions, if facial expressions affect the brain.

One Frank Rudolph Young wrote on what he called Soma Psychic Power. He issued a raft of exercises that seemed strange, but many of them worked amazingly well. One was a method of turning yourself into a “pseudo werewolf” in situations needing such a response. This included facial expressions and inner feelings, etc, that would trigger just such an “invincible” state. Young’s work is excellent, but filled with such “hype-o-delic” language, which is probably one reason that he didn’t become real popular. Most of his books can now be found in e-versions, floating around the Internet.

Soma Psychic Power/FR Young: a friend was discarding the first paperback (1975 Signet) edition around 1978. I had owned and seen plenty of weird books by that time, but nothing like this one. The little black and yellow volume seemed to “reach out and compel me to rescue it from the dumpster and stash it among my most valuable possessions over the decades to follow,” if you get my drift. The yellowed, crumbling pages still abide in my special drawer.

Young claimed to come from a family of generational chiropractors who’d met up with some mystic Indians while crossing the Isthmus of Panama on the way to the Northern gold fields.

This book and several of Young’s other books have now been scanned and are found here and there if one looks. At least a couple of his offerings contain instructions for practices that might be harmful or negative. Think turning on something that you can’t turn off or control very well.
“Soma Psychic Power” gets a clean bill of health, though.

As time goes by, I’m forming a different (from my previous) understanding of reality. For years I’ve wondered how every single jusitiction where an Arkancide happens rules the incident a suicide.I came to the idea that the local LE is acting to preserve their own; they believe that if you were dumb enough to mess with the wrong people, then you -did- commit suicide. Now though, I’m thinking society is divided between the ‘knows’ and the ‘not knows’. The knows are aware of and/or involved in surveillance, mafia, and Satanic government. The lives of the not knows are working 9-5, TV, and trying to get their -person- in office, etc. If you’re a ‘know’ then you never mention what you’re aware of to the ‘not knows’.

Not black pilled. Not in despair. Did you even watch the videos or did you just reflexively spew your own brain rot?
The first video demonstrated swarming by AI drones able to avoid obstacles. It also demonstrated the futility of guns against the swarms, same with metal shields over the windows.
The second video was a TED talk regarding the various AI drones. The TED talk verified the first video’s dramatic rendering of he threat.
Did you even pay attention to the year date on both videos (2006)? Six years is a considerable amount of time, enough for several generations of AI drone technology. Thousands of nerd technicians, having little or no consciences, have had ample time over the past six years to develop the capability of the AIs to avoid and overcome more and more obstacles.

That lesion on the old man’s tricep looks exactly like what in clinical photos of skin infections is produced by anthrax.

I put nothing past the monsters working for the insects with their human bio

The Russian MOD released a preliminary briefing on what they can accurately determine they are finding from the Ukraine bio warfare labs they have found shortly after the special operation attack began.
Seems all roads lead directly to the names Clinton Obama Buden and Soros as the recipients in profits obtained in colusion with the same bio-war weapons producers who in a strange koinkydink created the death vaxx’s. Same NGO’s and NATO actors, simularly shared research and interest between the actor states also in alliance with the empire of lies efforts to asist Ukraine.
Accounts of course of using children, ala test lab rats in the wild thru sturating counterfit money with a virulant highly anti biotic resistant strain of TB. A number of unwitting test subjects for a range if bio-engineered nasty’s.

Appears Mariupol and Kharkov where central nodes in the bio lab system spread across Ukraine, at least 30 labs plus various auxillary and administrative sights.

If you aren’t checking out the news from the White Russian alternate media network your not hetting critical info. Lot of linkage to the Eurasian media, like actual who what why when news and journalism. Its really something else, such a joy to read clean unadulterated by false narrative and lies, here’s what we know so far, here’s the facts as we know them, make up your own mind, and draw your own conclusions. Refreshing is an understatement. Took me a week abouts to become accustomed to truth by people who live in the free world. Very different mind sets and perceptions. They see the insects, laugh at the clown show, are fully aware of the lies and know who they are and what their countries are
The Saker here is one treasure trove, particularly as Saker has a raft if critical thinkers and writers pieces posted on his daily news blog. But here’s the kink to the Russian MOD’s Ukrainian biowar lab report:

This is important. I saw this last night on Sputnik, I might have been sent there by a link posted by a commentator on this site.

But the Russian government is starting to release what their soldiers are finding in the labs, and yes there do seem to be sinister biolabs, and the whole thing seems to be some sort of Democratic Party/ Soros operations. Its actually very strange.

I haven’t been sure if the whole Ukrainian campaign is a psyop, or Russia really did send forces there to take out black ops sites. There was evidence for both takes, but there is now more evidence for the second take.

>Coinbase earnings were bad. Worse still, the crypto exchange is now warning that bankruptcy could wipe out user funds.
I bought 100 dollars of bitcoin however many years ago on coinbase. Mainly for shits and giggles. Can’t recall the exact times. Then I got locked out of my account for probably close to 2 or 3 years because I used a google voice number with the account and for whatever reason the confirmation code they sent would never show up. It always worked for every other company I ever did this with. I tried every now and again to get back into the account to see if the texting issue had gotten fixed. Not once was I ever able to contact customer support about the issue. I always got a message about CS not being available in my country or region. Even though this is a US company and I was in the US. I am guessing they just didn’t have CS at all.
Then 6 months ago? Timing is a bit hazy but its been a little while, the texting issue was finally fixed or something and I was finally able to get into the account. The 100 had turned into 900. I think this is just when bitcoin was starting to dump. It had a bit already, but has done more since. I immediately sold it and transferred all my funds out of coinbase never to look back. Never, ever again will I use that company. Its true that alls well which ends well, but I would never use them again.

I made a few grand from various cryptos. I sold last year and bought gold and silver. Crypto is probably done for a few years. The key with any stock/etf or crypto is to get out while it’s quiet. Because of c bank money printing everything in the world is a bubble, and everything, even real estate and stock in well performing companies is a ponzi scheme to some degree. Even gold and silver are ponzi’s- you can’t eat gold and silver and in a country full of starving people you probably can’t sell them for anything either.

A guy like West definitely knows about Cabal, but they may not be aware of how satanic it is, and may think it’s only criminal. Cabal would absolutely threaten family (especially children) of innocents, “non-players”, uncontrolled politicians/lawyers etc., not just people in the game. There is Kompromat, there is blackmail and then there is “hostage taking”. West was a congressman, he is no longer. West was in a motorcycle accident, with all the tell tale fingerprints of a Cabal op.

Personally, I think West wasn’t controlled by Cabal, and he probably gained his seat because he is 1)Conservative 2)A Vet and 3)is black. Somewhere in the great 2013-2015 shift that Cabal ran, they threatened him/his family and got him to back down on some things. It’s one reason why he no longer was a Congressman. Maybe Cabal thought compromising info on him could be found because he is black. They were probably wrong. When West started getting “uppity” again in 2020, they crashed into him- reminding him of their control. Perhaps it worked.

Your instincts are probably correct. You shouldn’t trust West. But he is likely a Cabal “hostage”, it’s unlikely he is “in” the game. Many guys who go “weak” all of a sudden often do it because they and their families are cabal hostages, seeing as we have become a lawless society. It certainly explains the weakness of the Georgia GOP. Many people would do anything for their families, and even for the very religious it is their only weakness. So criticize West, yes, but ask yourself- if your family was taken “hostage” by Cabal- what would you do? Everyone has to ask that question of themselves.

They not only get the promotion, they get the girl, they ruin your reputation while still keeping you doing the bitch work. Employers won’t exactly fire you, but they will constantly keep you stressed and in fear of such.
So over time, had finally been looking for ways to “cheat” the system, i.e. stonks crypto whathaveyou, anything to get ahead without just grinding harder the normal wagie job that probably won’t be able to give you a raise anyway. Because as a millennial, looks like a huge stigma against merely doing honest work, you have to have some sort of “edge” that gets you money and status for nothing.
That actual thing has varied, from simply being a business bro in college … having “connections” to get you that easy executive position where [you are perceived as] not having to do any real work, pyramid sales schemes, music/club promoter, stonks, crypto, youtube star, fitness influencer. The fact that many fail at actually making serious money from that is meaningless, as fake it until you make it is always a thing.
The prevalence of “reality” game shows, everything from Survivor, Big Brother, all the way up to the big hits today such as Hunger Games and Squid Game, this is our life.
I may also be biased, without saying really where, I am from an area where honest jobs not only get bad pay, and are short in existence, but bosses treat their employees like dogshit. It’s also an area lacking willing single women. This has led to so many around me as being like what I just described. My area has also sent an outsized number people to Hollywood, Broadway, Silly Valley etc. for its size, as doing stuff like that is literally the only way out unless you want to be an underpaid sexless scrub your entire life.
My current job… while not typically expected to do a ton of work, and the overall working conditions are fine, I am on a team that does some important actual work, and as such many others (often some combo of boomer, incompetent, possible suspected surveillance/gangstalker/gatekeeper/glowie role, seniority there) around in this large-ish org come to us trying to get us to to do their work, half my job that day becomes explaining why we wouldn’t be able to and trying to find the one who actually is responsible. We’re kind of the suckers in that sense, though we’ve gotten much better at saying ‘no’ and standing up for ourselves.
But now, finding that… for one, many of the products we relied on for convenience or survival are actually complete trash. This is something I’ve had to figure out over time and with getting mature. All sorts of stuff that I used without a second thought, I am examining closely and over the years noticing all sorts of things break.
Also finding that a lot of cool ideas… the product simply does not exist, except maybe for some niche vendor who would naturally charge a ton of money for it. Other products, welp finding out that Bugland or some other combo of shithole countries is literally the only place that makes a given thing and their shipping or production is slow and product quality poor.
The point I’m making is, it almost looks like doing honest work business ideas of actually making things may actually start making more sense, and now could make more money than all the dumb hustles we would attempt to avoid being perceived as a sucker and taken advantage of by literally everyone around us.

I’m a Millennial too. We got the short end of the stick, but not as short as Gen Z are about to get. The push to engage in dumb hustles was a very clever way to trap many of us, because most people are incapable of learning from the school of hard knocks. And MBA’s are only minimally useful. Not everyone is capable of thinking by themselves, doing their own research, drawing their own conclusions, learning from mistakes, etc. Only if you’re supremely blessed can you expect to find good mentors or business partners. A good edge is only useful if you have the capital to execute/invest/etc. without breaking the bank. But more importantly, a good edge (or “moat”, if you will) is ALWAYS temporary. Basically, that whole mentality was a lie.

So how to generate capital? Hustle smart, which takes WAY more hard work than smarts. Ideally in this order: (1) GENERATE VALUE, (2) SELL, and (3) SCALE. (A variation for idea guys is: Find an Arbitrage, Close Deals, Scramble/Scale as Quickly as You Can Before the Arb Opportunity Expires) Another thing for those hustling: Don’t stretch yourself! Unless you’re rich, it’s critical to always have cashflow BEFORE and WHILE you work on any idea that won’t be immediately profitable. This is what I sometimes call Plan Zero. This is your fallback, may it be from handyman work, teaching, consulting, freelancing, or even a regular 9-5. Minimize the energy drain from Plan Zero. Then work on your Plan A, because most worthwhile scalable ideas will not be immediately profitable.

Honestly, this isn’t for everyone. Most people shouldn’t be dreaming of hustling because they simply don’t have the appetite for pain that’s necessary to keep failing. Many people take over 10 years of building businesses before they hit their first success. But if you are drawn to the front lines of the financial warzone and don’t mind busting your ass, forget the narcissists, the reality shows, that dumb hustle mentality etc. They’re all distractions designed to keep YOU from the real keys: VALUE GENERATION, SALES, and SCALE. (Or Find an Arb, Sell/Close Deals, Sprint/Scale) As always, I recommend Felix Dennis’ “How to Get Rich” and reading as many ebizfacts.com newsletters as you can handle. WallStreetPlayboys had great articles before they became crypto degens, but their books are probably still available.

Just to reinforce all of this, I have a part time job plus I do handyman work and currently BOOTSTRAPPY WORKSHOP is a semi-expensive hobby that I can manage strictly because I have ridiculously small rent and other bills with NO DEBT. I don’t expect to be able to do BOOTSTRAPPY full time this calendar year and maybe not in 2023, and that is assuming that MK2 pans out and can deliver products worth paying for, and I plan to sell MK2 castings for anyone that doesn’t want to go the trouble that they’ve seen me go to, but still wants to build a machine. That will be when BOOTSTRAPPY goes from hobby to BUSINESS.

Believe me, I am looking forward to the day when my entire weekly schedule is my own, but for the foreseeable future I expect to be punching a clock for at least half of it.

Worth reading. This group obviously did a lot of hard work.

I think what they found, multiple and not trivial violations of election laws, happens every election. Things got pushed too far in 2020, and I think we will find out that a lot of down ballot races were affected, which will be what will get people (well people in the political world) interested.

The article is about New York, and gives Biden’s margin in the state as just under two million votes, which happens to be about the number of questionable ballots. The focus has been on the states Trump needed to add to get an electoral college victory. But I don’t think people realize the scale of this stuff, and that it happens everywhere.
