Trump And African American Outreach – He Knows How To Do It

Rush had an interesting comment:

Now, here’s a Trump audience going nuts over the prospect of improving the lives of African-Americans. They’re applauding it. They’re all for it. We conservatives are all for everybody doing better. We want great things for everybody. We want everybody accessing every opportunity that they can. We’ve been the greatest country on earth, it’s got incredible bounty, we want everybody experiencing it.

Now, in the last couple of days I have been commenting on this, and I found that many conservatives disagree with me. I have been, for the most part, thinking Trump, this is a good outreach, and most people are saying, “No, no, Rush, this is not the way to do it. This is demeaning, this is humiliating. This is Trump telling African-Americans how rotten their lives are. Even if he is trying to blame it on Democrats, this is not the way to do it. It shouldn’t happen.”

And I think to myself, if I were trying to outreach to African-Americans as a candidate I’d do something similar. You know, I’d ask ’em, “You’ve been voting Democrat your whole lives and then some, and what’s it gotten you?” (interruption) Well, I know, that’s the thing. But I found this actually addressed last night as I was digging deep into show prep for today. Somebody actually went to a group of African-Americans and asked them how they are reacting to Trump.

Trump is a maestro of the mind. What he is doing here is loading black amygdalae. You want to fire up that amygdala with angst, unhappiness, and discomfort. First, that puts the black community in an aggressive mindset that is naturally predisposed to the more aggressive, less hippy-dippy ideology of conservatism. People in that frame of mind don’t want to get along, avoid conflict, and support the status quo. They want to compete. They want to be freed from encumbrances. They want to try an aggressive approach. Trump loading their amygdalae by laying out just how bad it is, is the equivalent of Jost’s mortal salience stimuli. It will shift the target audience toward K.

What he should do now, is point out that if they want “Change” he is the only candidate running who is not going to push the same old status quo. Stealing Obama’s phrase “Change,” which was itself brilliant in that it allowed everyone to read in what they wanted, would be the final cherry on that approach, since he would also be stealing everything Obama imbued that phrase with.

But even without it, Trump is already getting 20% of the black vote in Florida, which is far beyond Mitt Romney’s measly 4%. Just publicizing his swelling black support will move another ten to twenty percent to him – and those are gains the GOP could enjoy for decades, once Trump vastly improves security and economic conditions in inner cities.

Trump is now on his game. This fall will be a blow out.

[…] Trump And African American Outreach – He Knows How To Do It […]

I loved Rush in the 90s, savaging the Clintons. Then W came along and Rush went goo-goo with adoration, as if W’s policies were any different than any Democrat president. So I haven’t listened for about 15 years, until recently, to get his take on Trump.

He obviously has kept his distance from Trump, which is very hard to do with a Hillary running, but I think it’s a good thing. As I consider Rush mostly as a cuckservative but a rare one who has some ability to think.

I ought to try calling in, because he’s been heavily floating the idea that there’s an army of unsuspected (by the MSM any way) Trump voters waiting for November. And he’s 100% correct. There are hundreds of thousands of us, if not into the millions, who haven’t voted for any of the nominated stooges for years, decades. I see alt-right people worrying and shaking their heads over polls. The pollsters don’t know those of us in the silent army even exist! Dey gotta big surprise comin’.

Now, if Rush would just drop the silly dems-r-de-real-wacists and Hitler-was-a-leftist nonsense.
