Comey would appear to have had FBI agents investigating the investigators of Pizzagate, according to this email where he refers a Comet-Ping-Pong-associated individual to the agents looking into it, so they can judge their exposure. One of the agents he referred the emailer to was Andy Vale, one of only three Assistant Directors in the country, while Paul probably references Paul Abate (who was just promoted to Associate Deputy Director recently), who at the time, “served… as the executive assistant director for the Criminal, Cyber, Response, and Services Branch, with responsibility for overseeing all FBI criminal and cyber investigations worldwide, international operations, critical incident response, and victim assistance.” Meaning watching the Pizzagate investigators on Reddit, Voat and the Chans was among the highest priorities in the Bureau then, and the highest ranking FBI officials were paying close attention to the progress of the monitoring operations so they could personally update anyone who the top political players deemed a “Serious Person.” I’ve been saying for a while, you do not just log onto the Chans or Voat, do your thing, log off, and nobody is the wiser as you go about your day. There will be people assigned to your area of operations who know you – know your face, your personality, your preferences, your abilities, your threat – everything about you, because it is their job to know all of that for the people in their area. And if what you are looking into is hot, the power players you threaten will have the uppermost eschelons of the domestic intel apparatus personally keeping close tabs on you. So if you choose that path, keep your nose extra-clean. If you grew up with the myth, it is all incredibly creepy and ominous, with an air of the movie Enemy of the State where John Voight is personally ordering the hit on some nameless conspiracy newsletter publisher who has no idea what is coming. It makes the idea of this being a free society, where anything can happen and things are not fully controlled by an all powerful entity silly. It is meaningful though that they need the artifice of the myth. It means that as Q says, true freedom is never more than one disclosure away.

On the Facebook employees and burner phones. Big silicon Valley Corporations typically provide you with a cell phone, even encouraging you to port your number over and use it for your personal phones. Almost everyone does this to save on the phone bill. These phones come with company setup software for security, additionally they set up an always on VPN tunnel into their network. Ostensibly so you can use internal company apps and security. However, this also lets them see anything you do on this phone.
