I never liked Barrett’s eyes. In lesser quantities, I would judge that manipulativeness. To that degree, it has an added air of something beyond desperation, almost a panicked manipulativeness bordering on psychosis.

We really don’t know for certain what is in the vaccines. If they are getting active snippets of mRNA into cells with promoters and ready to be burned off (which is the important special sauce), I would think the same mechanism could get pieces of DNA, like bacterial plasmids only for humans, in too, and create a situation where a person was producing something biologically active, more permanently. Who would know if they tried that? The fact they will probably vaccinate a billion people, and surveillance is as fierce as it is, capable of documenting everything about anyone of interest, and so many medical professionals are in the network taking orders, makes me think it possible some people may get a special vaccine, and get followed to see what happens. Quick comment on the state of the union speech.
The actual text in the Constitution reads on the line that the President will report to Congress on the “state of the union from time to time”. There is no mention of doing it annually or giving a speech. The President delivered a written report until Woodrow Wilson started the monarchical annual speeches from the throne. Ronald Reagan then Hollywooded it up. I don’t think these are done in any other republic. In monarchies the monarch reads out a speech written for him or her. The provision could be satisfied by delivering copies of the presidential report on the economy and the national security strategy to the Vice President (President of the Senate) and Speaker of the House, with a cover letter, and even this does not have ot happen anyway.
Political scientists have criticized the monarchical speech from the throne state of the union address, and getting rid of it would be a good idea. A lot of this protocol that is being violated was introduced fairly recently, isn’t really protocol, and most of the ceremony around the prez should be dispensed with. The only significance here is that the changes are not being announced and explained, and when asked about them they deny they are happening. I commented yesterday on the Supreme Court not hearing the election cases, and may write something more substantive later in the week when I have more time and have my thoughts more together. But its an indication that the plan for the United States -it will be different in parliamentary systems with cleaner elections in Europe and Canada- will be a permanent governing party, the sort that people have to get on the good side of local functionaries to get licenses for their businesses and professional jobs for their children. They have settled on the Donks for this, though I think the GOP had been considered for the role before Obama. There will be an opposition party, probably the rump of the Republicans once the country club Republicans leave and join the Democrats, which will be allowed to win 80 to 90 seats on the House, a couple of seats in the Senate, and some small state governorships, but will otherwise always lose, and the elections will be rigged to do this. I had thought there would be a quicker move into changing the government administrative structures to match the reality.

One interesting thing – I can’t think of a single time I’d refer to others as delusional. I think in my mind, people can be wrong, even stupid. But delusion is something specific, I would never diagnose without seeing inside someone’s head. I think subconsciously I assume if someone is delusional, they are non-functional, and probably in an institution, so my saying it would be a sign I don’t understand how things work.

I’ve been trying to find a plugin for that, but the only ones I am finding are ones which allow me to ban a user so nobody can see them. I’ll keep looking.
My own perspective is if I see shit I don’t like, I use it to develop my brain to exhibit unemotional tolerance, from posters who irritate to gore videos. I’ve been doing that for a while now, seeing things I don’t like, pausing, relaxing, and then focusing on them entirely. I’ve always been kind of chaos-centric, enjoying disordered environments more than normal ones, but now I am much more relaxed and logical too, and I suspect adapted to look upon shocking violence more or less dispassionately. I don’t know if everybody can do that, but it has worked unbelievably for me.
I’ve wondered if some of my watchers are exhibiting PTSD after following my online activities for a while. Not much I can do about that.
I’ll keep looking for a plugin.

The funny thing about fighting is how little training it takes to advance vastly beyond everyone else. Just a little time grappling, and that football player would have stayed low, kept his base wide with his feet far apart, and known to not let that little guy take his back at all costs. Once he got that, size advantages can play a big role until it hits the ground, and even then it helps. But you look at him, be might as well have been a three year old asked to do calculus. He just had no idea what was going on. He stays high while the little guy gets under him to jack him up, he has his feet close together so he can’t push or pull in any direction, and then he balls up and lets the little guy take his back. Never do any of those things.
I never trained grappling, but am theoretically aware of some of its mechanics, such as the sprawl, and even just being aware of the biophysics can help a little. There was this one time I was drunk with a room mate and he had trained boxing, so we decided to do some very light sparring for shits and giggles, he showed me some positions and shit and I accidentally hit him a little too hard, he got pissed and said he was going to have to take me down, he went in for a double leg take down but I remembered some Bas Rutten shit I had seen so I jammed my hips back and just layed all my weight on his neck back while spreading my legs. He calmed down really quick went I landed on top of him laughing my ass off, then we had more beer.
If it was real fight it might not have helped enough (because without training there is no muscle memory, and in high adrenaline scenarios muscle memory is what comes out), but I can see what you mean.
The little guy was riding so high he could’ve thrown him off if he’d known what he was doing. Before they hit the ground that is.
Also the attempted punching backwards on the ground was a mistake. Never reach back against a wrestler that’s on your back. You’re doing nothing but improving his position. Lock your elbows against your body and try and break his grip if you can.
Honestly, if you’re in a fight with a wrestler and you’re not one yourself your best bet is to knock him out asap. You’re almost guaranteed to lose otherwise. They’re trained to go hard for seven minutes. That alone allows them to beat most opponents since 99% of people can’t go nearly that long without gassing out. Especially bigger guys.
I saw a couple of fights involving my teammates end the following way when I wrestled in my youth:
Normally they end up with both facing the ground. The non-wrestler is face down on the ground trying to unsuccessfully push up while the wrestler is stomach to back on top of them with their legs hooked in over their opponents legs. Then they just extend their back whenever the bottom tries to push up. The wrestler’s only concern is not riding too high.
If they try and roll, you just cross-face them with your arm until you’re back in the face down position again.
The combined weight is too much so the bottom gasses out after several tries. The wrestler can literally reign blows on the back and sides of the bottoms head at will from this position. Humiliating for the opponent.
That’s the thing that most people miss. Skill matters, but only in “is it there.” After that, it tends to be mass and reach.
A tiny woman martial arts master can take down a huge strong guy if that guy is completely and totally untrained.. The thing is, if that guy gets the least training — including as little as, “I’ve been in half a dozen bar fights,” then the tiny black belt is toast (in a fair fight).
When mass and reach are comparable, then skill starts mattering. That’s why we have weight classes in martial arts — otherwise even unskilled fighters would trounce highly skilled fighters just because they had 50 pounds of mass on them.
If you aren’t the biggest strongest guy there, don’t get in a fair fight.
Actually, don’t ever get into a fair fight. I don’t do fair fights. I much prefer unilateral unfair beatings of the other guy.
Not standing head-on to the guy and not “conversing” within arm’s reach would go a long way too during the “prelims”. And keep your damn hands up so the sucker-puncher doesn’t have a clear shot!
Well, the football player was taken by surprise. The first hit gets him off-balance and then the smaller guy goes low, and takes him down with that backward throw, using the football players pushing against him as momentum.
That takedown was interesting because it means “going to the ground” does not result in your knee hitting the floor.
No, the problem is that the guy he attacked did not push him. The football player did not even see his buddy push the guy so, basically, the guy attacked him for no reason. The football player was not ready for or expecting a fight and the MMA guy committed an assault.
That looks like a very dangerous move to use against someone on the street. Your back is completely exposed. If you can’t take the guy down, then he is positioned to take you down by landing on top of you.

This was a fight that broke out in a restaurant or ice cream parlor. Guy gets into it with a smaller dude. His girlfriend stops him momentarily from continuing the fight. The next moment, the smaller guy pulls out a gun and fires five rounds or so into the bigger guy. Rapid fire semi-auto, looked liked he emptied the mag into him.
