I would say Putin was diplomatic and polite with Kissinger, as all good spies should be. BRIC (and later BRICS) was a natural economic partnership and I suspect, though I cannot confirm, that Putin was trying to do what he felt was in the best interest of Russia after the breakup of the Soviet system, when Russia was relatively weak economically and culturally. And let us keep in mind Brazil and India are less pozzed than the West is, although they still have significant issues.
My guess is that at some point before he assumed office Putin realized what the Cabal (Beast) system (which has captured the West) had in store for Russia, and how it had taken over China, and he moved to oppose it, a little at first and now significantly, once his leadership was established.

A point of caution. I would reject many of the precepts of Duganism/Eurasianism being encouraged in Russia. It has the potential to become “Slav man’s burden” much like “White man’s burden” of the late 19th century which was so disastrous for the West. If Eurasianism leads to expansion outside of Orthodox Slavic lands it will by definition include Muslims and Asians. The numbers I’ve seen for just journalists is about $37,000. $18 hr, no wonder mid-career people drop out.
