Swiss voters overwhelmingly rejected a proposal that would have guaranteed everyone in the Alpine nation an unconditional basic income, according to projections published Sunday by public broadcaster SRF1.
The plan could have seen people in this wealthy nation of 8 million people receive about 2,500 Swiss francs ($2,560) per month — enough to cover their basic needs.
Proponents argued that a basic income would free people from meaningless toil and allow them to pursue more productive or creative goals in life. Critics said the plan would explode the state budget and encourage idleness, arguments that appear to have convinced voters.
This is more than a simple issue of creating a disincentive. This is an issue of creating an epigentically accumulating, brain-deforming force which will mentally retard generations, to the point that it will take true horrors to undo the damage – and to the point those horrors will become unavoidable.
The problem is we are all programmed. By the very nature of the amygdala, it drives us to avoid the very stress which our brains need to push and pull on various structures to develop properly.
Regardless of whether this would be more efficient than welfare, or fairer than a multitude of social assistance programs, or better than anything else, removing that basic level of amygdala stress is fundamentally bad, in ways that the smartest people in the room can’t even imagine yet.

Switzerland has compulsory military service, and about 2/3 of 18 year old males are found fit for service and empressed. Once you’ve served, you are required by law to keep a working battle rifle and sufficient ammunition for deployment as militia at all times.
I support basic income on two conditions: First, that all other welfare programs be abolished, their staff terminated, and their buildings and other assets sold off. Second, that the money be given out annually, in cash, on the recipient’s birthday.
This would give liquor stores and drug dealers a chance to restock, and morgues time to dispose of the bodies. Of course if you’d rather spend your wad on tech school tuition and become a productive member of society, more power to you.
