The Republican Debate, K-Selection, and the Toilet in the Room

In their defense, judging by how he eats, it would be safe to assume that he probably needs a toilet on hand at all times:

Just hours before GOP candidates take the stage here Wednesday night, tensions over the Republican National Committee’s handling of the debates are flaring anew…

During a tense 30-minute meeting at the Coors Event Center, which was described by three sources present, several lower-polling campaigns lashed out at the RNC. They accused the committee of allotting them less-than-hospitable greenroom spaces while unfairly giving lavish ones to higher-polling candidates, such as Donald Trump and Ben Carson.

The drama began Tuesday afternoon as RNC officials led campaigns on a walk-through of the debate site. After touring the stage, candidates got a peek at what their greenrooms looked like.

Trump was granted a spacious room, complete with plush chairs and a flat-screen TV. Marco Rubio got a theater-type room, packed with leather seats for him and his team of aides. Carly Fiorina’s room had a Jacuzzi. Then there was Chris Christie, whose small space was dominated by a toilet. So was Rand Paul’s…

But with some campaign advisers steaming over what they’d seen during the walk-through, the discussion veered back to greenrooms.

“This is ridiculous,” fumed Christie’s campaign manager, Ken McKay. “We’re in a restroom.”

Another example of the Republican elites having no adaptation to the idea of a K-selected world of limited resources. A building only has so many rooms. If you are polling at 1%, and are attending a debate with fifteen other candidates polling at 1%, there may not be enough luxury greenrooms for everyone. A normal person will see that, but a person whose brain has adapted to an r-selected environment of free resources and limited conflict and competition will not. They will just assume everyone should have a luxury greenroom.

Once a human brain has the right switches flipped to trigger that r-selected psychology, they will not be a true conservative until they experience a period of shortage and harshness to flip the switches back to K-selection. Until that happens, they will always trend toward conflict aversion, “tolerance,” support of out-group interests, tolerance for single parenting and feminist ideals, tolerance for sexual promiscuity, opposition to an armed populace, and all the other r-selected traits that underlie the modern liberal’s psychology. They will be a human rabbit, until harshness converts their brain to that of a human wolf. You can see why the GOPe is such a bunch of liberal pussies.

Liberalism is the r-selected reproductive strategy, carefully coded in the human brain’s mechanism by evolution, and designed to burst forth in response to free resource availability and lack of conflict and danger. Like a hologram, if you see one small part, you can map out all of the rest.

Knowing what is on the horizon, you should be able to see the coming wave of human K-selected mindsets a mile away.

How would you analyze Trump in the r/K spectrum? He certainly has some Liberal tendencies, but he doesn’t seem to be conflict averse.
