I want to remind you that a lot of drugs that are broad spectrum against parasites like worms and fungus seem to be effective against cancer. Of course since they are dirt cheap there’s little studies on them. In my opinion the NIT primary mission should be low cost methods to keep people healthy or cure things at low cost. Most bang for the buck.

One of the biggest killers is heart disease. I think it’s from plaque build up. I’ve read before that there are drugs that can strip this off but because it is intravenous and not a pill they refuse to work on this. This is the sort of stuff the NIH should be doing. If you could go in ever ten years and strip off a bunch of that cholesterol sludge build up I bet we could raise the health of untold people.
