Greeks Riot Over Austerity

Greeks riot over the initial onset of resource limitation:

Farmers who travelled to Athens from Crete have clashed with riot police in the latest unrest on the streets of the Greek capital, prompted by the government’s austerity policies…

More than 1,100 stockbreeders and farmers arrived on overnight ferries in the early hours of Wednesday, to protest against increases in tax and social security contributions demanded by the creditors keeping Greece afloat.

Footage showed the farmers, many wearing black bandanas, smashing the windows of riot vans with shepherds’ staffs, setting fire to rubbish bins and hurling rocks and stones.

When the agriculture minister, Evangelos Apostolou, initially refused to meet a 45-member delegation representing protesters, anger peaked. “Dialogue is one thing, thuggery quite another,” the minister said, before attempts at further talks also foundered.

Greek farmers, long perceived to be the privileged recipients of generous EU funds, have historically been exempt from taxation…

Similar clashes took place in Thessaloniki, where Tsipras, the Greek prime minister, was taunted by protesters and asked if he could “survive on a pension of €400 a month”.

People’s amygdalae grow accustomed to the level of resources they are routinely provided with. Those with the freest levels of resources will see the greatest levels of amygdala angst when the earliest phases of resource restriction begin.

Greece’s chaos is just beginning. None of these people are starving, and none of them have any loved ones who have died due to the shortage yet. None are experiencing pain or real suffering yet. They even have money for travel and protesting equipment to beat cars with.

When the real collapse starts, imagine how these people will feel when they find their leaders gave Germany all of their gold and national wealth. Imagine them seeing loved ones die, and suffering hunger and stress daily because of the economic mismanagement of the elites. Then there will be the migrants, whom everyone will out-group and discriminate against, and who will respond violently in kind.

Meanwhile the leaders who created the entire mess will be the last to surrender their free resources, so while the people suffer they will try to wine and dine, and ignore the inequity. That will be an amygdala stimulant leading to the K-selected psychology coming back with force.

Spread r/K Theory, because bloodbaths are good if it is the right people’s blood

Viral communications is not a subject I have any deep knowledge of, but that I know you do, so thought I’d drop this here

Just in case it has anything useful?

Personally I feel the Overton window on r/K is rattling in the wind, waiting for the lock to fail and it to burst open….

Come on.. BLOW!

Off topic: seeing pictures of Iran and Afghanistan in the 60s v. today; do you have a speculation as to r k selection and why Iran, for instance, turned hard K seemingly overnight?

If you have any plans to write more books, I’d like to suggest one: the major uprisings in history through r/K e.g. the French Revolution and aristo decadence. It would be easy enough to collaborate with an historian and explain how these things have happened in practice. It would also give a working blueprint on how to prevent these things in future.

Read Wade’s A Troublesome Inheritance before then, and Charlton’s Genius Famine. They are relevant. Biohistory is supposedly also very good as a topic.
