Never Hit A Fifty-Cal On The Primer

Cal Sportsman has an interesting little slo-mo animated gif here, of an arrow hitting the primer on a .50 BMG.

Apparently, the primer is the weakest point of the cartridge’s structure, so everything comes blasting back out though it, including, I assume pieces of primer. I would have assumed it would have popped the bullet and ruptured the case, but no.

Not sure how that is of use, but maybe somebody will be improvising a little booby trap someday in the Apocalypse, and it might come in handy.
