Here are some news stories that might be of interest. For unknown reasons, in most browsers the tweets only display right if you click to the post’s individual page instead of viewing it on the main page of the blog, so click the title above if you are on the main page of the blog. Most articles will be more or less summarized in the headline. You can skim the headlines and summaries, and click the links if they are of interest. Keep in mind, many of these reports are products of the Fake News, so although they will be what people are hearing and talking about, there is no guarantee any one of them is necessarily correct, and we have had cases of outright lies make it onto these pages, especially about President Trump.

Q is going again. The format for Q’s posts will be a screenshot image of Q’s post, and immediately below each post will be any links reprinted as text hyperlinks so you can click them, and then my comments in bold. I’ve been busy but I want to reply to Q and his post on the Enlightenment posted on AC on 06/05.

Q writes:
[QUOTE]”The French revolutionaries meant to establish in place of the ancien regime a new reason-based order instituting the Enlightenment ideals of liberty and equality. …enlightenmnet with the process of undertaking to think for oneself, to emply and rely on one’s own intellectual capacities in determining what to believe and how to act” [END QUOTE]

Q is NOT a very good Christian. At II Peter 1:5, St. Peter teaches “Supplement The Faith with Arete”. The Virtue of Righteousness (which is part of Arete) commands “Preserve ancient customs and laws”. The Enlightenment Overthrew European culture. The Enlightenment is Unrighteous.

Second, the so-called “Enlightenment” was 80% authored by Atheists! What does Atheism have to do with Christianity but destroy it? Psalm 1 reads: “Blessed is the man who has NOT listened to the ungodly”. Not one single orthodox catholic Christian participated in the “Enlightenment”. The “Enlightenment” was engineered by the Ungodly!

The other 20% were Masonic deists: European deism is nothing but Judaism’s monotheism. Thomas Jefferson was a socianist, Look it up, a rejecter of Trinitarianism.

No Christian is to listen to the Ungodly nor follow in their footsteps.

Third, All of American Protestantism is Gnostic! q.v. Prof. Philip Lee’s book “Against the Protestant Gnostics”. The political thinker Eric Voeglin outed Puritanism as Gnostic.

The premier scholar of Jewish mysticism and Kabbalah, Professor Gershom Scholem notes that Jewish Messianism fueled the chialistic and revolutionary messianism in the Taborites, Anabaptists and the radical wing of the Puritans, heretical Christian sects active in the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries; these movements were the basis of the many political revolutions overthrowing Christendom, of Throne and Altar.

So again, really the “Enlightenment” was a movement of Gnostics and those ideas really come out of Jewish Influence.

So is Q really a Christian? He doesn’t know the Bible, doesn’t know the intellectual foundation of the Enlightenment.

II Peter 1.5,6

I’m fluent in classical Greek, not koine, so correct me if I’m wrong. It appears that 5 is building on something in 4 (καὶ αὐτὸ) which must be the promises given to us by Jesus that are mentioned in 4 (ἐπαγγέλματα δεδώρηται). So a loose translation would be something like this:

(Because Jesus has given you His promises) you should (express) diligence in all (things) multiplying your faith with goodness (the arete you mentioned) and (multiplying your) goodness with knowledge.

Clearly, arete isn’t the goal, but a midpoint to the goal which is knowledge. I’m not sure this jives with your criticism of the Enlightenment, but it could …

I have no doubt Q is a believer.

“Arete isn’t the goal, but a midpoint…” Correct—-But still, to advance to the higher stage—one has to go thru the door of Arete.

There is not a single Church leader, Catholic or Protestant, that can give a dissertation or preach on “Arete”. First, comes The Faith, then, Arete, then godliness.

Hello Sir. I would send this to you privately, but don’t have an email except an old one at the tail of one of your articles, and didn’t feel I should use it.

A few disjointed comments on your paper on 2 Pet 1.5; Supplement Faith with Arete …

I stand by my contention that supplementing faith with ἀρετή is not Paul’s point, but rather we are to take God’s gift of reason or understanding, and use it to mature in our faith to the point where we are able to love each other with a pure, or brotherly, love.

I was wrong about reason being the endpoint and ἀρετή a midpoint. ἀρετή is the beginning, the least valuable of the sequence of events that happen as a Christian matures. The endpoint is love.

Regarding righteousness: ἡ dικαιοσύνη (which is a feminine noun, by the way) is most often translated righteousness in the NT. This is a legal term, or legal-originating term, which is predicated on the idea of Jewish law. In other words, an abstracted sense of righteousness (which you and I may have) was not part of the mind/thought-process of biblical writers and speakers, including Jesus. As you mentioned, the Latin Justitia was a common translation of ἡ dικαιοσύνη: strangely, it’s most often translated “fairness.” So, around dικαιοσύνη hovers a cloud of meaning which includes equity, fairness and something like legal justice.

Regarding arete: ἡ ἀρετή (also a feminine noun) is usually translated either virtue or excellence in the NT. You mentioned the word was related to arrene, (male) which is sorta-not-so true becasue it is most closely related to the noun aristos (the best, being your best, besting others, being the best). ἀρετή has to do with achievement or the end quality of a pursuit, idea or object — not what is intrinsically moral or immoral about or in it.

(Strongs #703 translates this as valor which some like to think of as manliness. But, in Jewish religious practices, a “woman of valor” is the woman in Proverbs 31 – read repetitiously every Friday evening in family worship and a very familiar phrase with the Jews of Biblical times. Also, a woman of valor is mentioned in Ruth 3.11 when Boaz uses the phrase to describe Ruth. The word valor is used to describe men, “And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, though mighty man of valor.” Judges 6.12. So there is no OT or NT justification for thinking of valor as a male attribute only.

I’m sorry, but my Hebrew/Aramaic is so dreadful that I won’t bother translating the OT passages above. Too embarrassed. Sticking to Greek …

Sir, lets go back to 2 peter 1.2f, please. I intuit you’re not a Greek reader, so will try to stick with English. But I’ll translate the exact text – very wooden and unreadable — as I go along, so it won’t read like your standard translations. This is a very difficult passage.

1.2 Grace and peace be added/multiplied/increased (in you) as you recognize/know God and Jesus our master/lord.

1.3 As His divine ability/power having been given freely (perfect passive) to all/every(thing) that (no verb) life and devoutness (eusebeiavvnvvvvv) through the knowledge/recognition of the One calling us through glory and virtue (ἀρετή).

1.4 through which the mega/greatest and most valuable/precious promises having been given freely (same verb as above) that through these you may be becoming participants/communioners (koinonoi) of God’s nature, fleeing from the kosmos/world in lust (and) corruption

1.5 and (for the same reasons), yet (no verb) diligence, beside-into-carrying (or, something like “employing one’s”) you have been supplied in your faith
the virtue (ἀρετή)
in yet the virtue (ἀρετή again) the
in yet the knowledge (gnosei) the
the in-holding/self-control
in yet the under-remaining/endurance
in yet the under-remaining
the devoutness
the fond-brotherness/brotherly-affection
in yet the brotherly-affection
the love.

1.6 these for to you possessing/belonging and increasing neither idle nor unfruitful is down-standing/constitution into our Lord Jesus Christ.

This is a messy, convoluted and difficult text, to say the least. The author is all over the place, skipping verbs and conjoining ideas that should be pulled apart to make sense. Peter is in a hurry, or is thinking quickly, or, perhaps, writing to an audience that understands his verbal shorthand. That’s not us/we!

Whatever Peter’s reason for writing such unreadable prose, we still have to make sense of it. It’s our Bible, after all. The Word of God. Now, to your points about ἀρετή, note that it occurs three times so far – highlighted.

What’s really cool, at least to me, is the strong forward movement of this passage. Bottom line: Peter starts out by talking about knowing/recognizing Jesus and ends up talking about love.

How is this forward movement accomplished?
Jesus does it for us. He gives us knowledge/recognition of Himself.
Why does he give us the knowledge of Himself?
So we can flee evil in the world and participate in His nature.

There is a sequence of gifts given to us by Jesus so we can know Him.
1. ἀρετή leads to knowledge
2. knowledge leads to self-control
3. self-control leads to endurance
4. endurance leads to brotherly love.

To sum: the sequence is ἀρετή to knowledge to self-control to endurance to brotherly love.
ἀρετή, then, is the LEAST important gift in this list – the most important being love.
ἀρετή, too, is where one starts in Christian growth or maturity, not where one ends.

The greatest of these is love.

So, I Peter 1.5f isn’t about supplementing the faith with ἀρετή, but about starting with ἀρετή to get to love. If you agree with this, then your entire argument about manliness, etc. sorta pales to insignificance. (I’m sorry to say this, Sir).

Having said this, it really doesn’t matter because you’ve written a very interesting article on justice, which, as you say, is one of the four cardinal virtues, in fact the “bestest” one.

I agree that to understand the koine, one has to start with classical usage and then reason forward. This is a bit like starting with Chaucer and reasoning forward to Shakespeare, even though we’re actually in the 21st century. Thus we have to make a third translational step to a contemporary understanding. Take it on my word, Sir, that the jump from classical to koine is tiny compared to gap in understanding between koine to contemporary. I can barely read a menu in a contemporary Greek restaurant, but have no problem reading amphora in museums. The koine (common Greek of the Jesus’ era) is much closer to the classical than to contemporary Greek.

I really don’t have more time to spend on this — or the time to edit, so I hope it makes sense — but want you to know that I found your articles in Anvil and Forge quite fascinating and look forward to reading more of them in the near future.

Q isn’t 1 person, they’re a team of people. Yes, they are probably deficient in advanced theology studies. Most people are deficient in their study. You are right to criticize the enlightenment- it definitely has it’s problems- but the United States was not founded by gnostics. It just wasn’t. Old school Protestants aren’t gnostics either. The converged ones, and pretty much every Catholic clergyman is though, guaranteed.

Jesus Christ did not come to Earth to force people to his view, nothing he did was to compel. People have to CHOOSE him, of their own freewill. All will be judged by those who chose him, ie. those who repented of their sins in his name and have faith in his works and purpose. You can’t force someone to believe in HIM, they either do or they don’t, and HE knows their minds and their hearts. This is the fundamental principal in Christianity when he declares “Come follow Me”. This is why baptism can only be done for people who understand what they’re doing- it can’t be done for babies, small children and the mentally incompetent.

Going to Heaven is a choice. Caveats are made for the aborted and those ignorant of the gospel through circumstance rather than choice. People who don’t chose Heaven won’t go there. This was the fundamental point of English Protestantism and the founding of the United States of America, you could not force someone to be a Christian, or to be saved, or to be Happy or even to be Good.

In the American Revolution Englishmen, Scotsmen, Welsh, and a few Dutch chose to be Americans. Some French huguenots and a very small number of Rhineland Germans helped as well, as well as several individuals from every European nation. Later people (since 1790) have come to the U.S. and been given paper citizenship, but few have chosen full obedience to the Constitution and the American way of Life.

Christianity has the exact same issues. Rome was an immigrant to Christ. When Rome took the reigns of Christ’s Church theology was altered, watered down and serious truths hidden. These truths are still found readily in scripture if only you read and study it- independently and thoughtfully. Most Christians are only partly practicing, and don’t fully understand how amazing God’s gift is to them. America is a gift too. A worldly gift, but a God given gift nonetheless. But we all have Freedom to chose what we believe and do. The results of our choices are for God, and God alone to decide. That is why He has given us freedom of choice but, not freedom of outcome. Godbless.

The reformation was a move away from the Manichean Gnosticism that was introduced by St Augustine and St Jerome who made all sexual passion to be sin despite such thing as to be received with thanksgiving and designed by God according to (Proverbs 5:18-19)(Song of Solomon) who failed to distinguish between healthy godly Eros and Lust.

Of course Gnostic currents try to move back into matter evil, spirit good dichotomy. Certainly in other cases there was attempts to move against Gnostic elements like this.
But what it really did is bring the pathologies cooking in the church out into the open.

This really isn’t true. Manicheanism has long been recognized as a Gnostic heresy. The original belief is that there is a battle between God and the Devil, which would imply that God and Satan are equally powerful.

Battles take place between unequal opponents all the time.

It is true that Satan has no chance of winning but in his error he believes otherwise.

GOD could probably shut him down at any time but it serves GOD’s purposes to test and teach us to allow the devil to continue to fight him until the end of the world.

“…Q is NOT a very good Christian…”

“…No Christian is to listen to the Ungodly nor follow in their footsteps.

Third, All of American Protestantism is Gnostic! q.v. Prof. Philip Lee’s book “Against the Protestant Gnostics”…:

The Gnostics, like the Cathars, believed that the Old Testament was the rantings of a the Demon god of the Jews and that the Jews worshiped Satan. That sounds about as reasonable as can be to me. It certainly fits the facts on the ground and if you read the old Testament the demon ranting never ends with their murder god Yahweh. The Jews writings in their religion certainly sound like Satanism as they are allowed to whatever they damn well please as long as they worship their demon god. So what did the good Catholics do when the Gnostics decided they wanted nothing to do with the Catholic church and their allies the Jews? They murdered them down to the last Man, Woman and Child that’s what they did. So I don’t take any Catholic smears against Protestants with any validity at all. It certainly clear the Jews,(demon worshipers), right now and many times in the past have run the Catholic church. What use is the Catholic church if it run by the Jews, the enemy of Christians? Whatever the failings of Protestants they at least are not tied to one big, singular corrupt child raping Jew demon worshiping religion.

Part II of my response to Q promoting the Enlightenment.

Q writes: …enlightenmnet with the process of undertaking to think for oneself, to employ and rely on one’s own intellectual capacities in determining what to believe and how to act”.

Q really doesn’t understand the fundamentals of reality. Jesus did.

Has Q forgot Original Sin? Original Sin is one of the fundamentals of reality. We are ALL damaged. Our reason is damaged. We are dysfunctional out-the-gate. Original Sin affects all that we do. It is the cause of the human condition.

In the presence of Original Sin—ONE CAN’T “think for oneself”. That is why God produced The Bible. That is why God produced the leadership class in Nature called the Monarchy. Just as every family has head, as every cell has a nucleaus, as every body has a brain—every nation has a Monarch to lead and guide it!

What did Jesus call humans? S-H-E-E-P. Has anyone out there worked with sheep or talked with some one who has? Have any of you worked in nature?

Sheep are the dumbest animals. They are extreme herd animals. They will also commit communal suicide and they are easy to prey on! this is wny owners of sheep put donkeys or goats or shepherds in front of flocks of sheep! Sheep are clueless. This is why God Ordained TWO Shepherds to guide human flocks called nations—Throne and Altar.

So what is Q doing? repeating the mistakes of the Enlightenment. He’s going around in a circle jerk of constant destruction. What produce of the Enlightenment was successful? France? Italy? America?

All people are damaged by Original Sin. God Placed Authority upon mankind to keep them safe called Throne and Altar.

Proof? Europe–following the Enlightenment is now drowned in Muslim immigration. Europe and America are committing Auto-genocide.

Jesus said, “My Yoke is easy, my burden light”. What is the Yoke of Christ? The Church! Now, you’ve adopted the Chains of Satan—Marxism, International Socialism. The Enlightenment freed the Jews up. NOW—we are all enslaved by the Jews and their fellow proxies European atheists.

How is that turning out for you? Q doesn’t know jack-shit about Christianity.

I completely agree. We can start with the structure of Jesus Christ’s Church, namely the priesthood he has ordered by the Apostle’s that HE chose.

Learn from Hebrews 5:4-6, which as annotated from the Apostle Paul

“And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. ”

So Jesus said (through Paul) that you’ve got to call your priesthood after the order of Melchisedec, or else you are disobedient and you are cursed.

Learn Further from Timothy, one of the 70 disciples of Christ and a Bishop, in 1 Timothy 3:2,

“A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach”

So, here’s another clue.

The bounds of Priesthood are set, the word is spoken, the rules are clear.

If your religious “leader” isn’t male, married and called after the order of Jesus Christ (through Melchizedek) then you are disobedient to the words and laws of God, and any “ordinances” you partake of are false and you are DAMNED until you repent and come into obedience to the plainly and clearly spoken word.

Yeah those stupid Protestants are missing out big time on the child rape they could have had if they were Catholics. And to think they’re missing out on all that gold and finery that is wheeled about by Catholic priest by not giving their money to the true religion, that is taken over by the Satan worshiping Jews.

Even worse they are missing out on worshiping this groovy statue at the vatican.

Agree with you here, Lindsay. Q’s exhortation to “think for yourself” and ignore tradition, revelation, authority, and dogma sounds like any adolescent 18-year-old freshman on a tear from listening to his atheistic Marxist professors. As if thinking for yourself never results in acceptance of tradition, revelation, or dogma. And authority can mean something deeper than, “Because I said so.” But that’s how it’s often presented in the schools. No more profound exploration required or wanted.

I am not a Roman Catholic but I admire — deeply — this statement by Archbishop Vigano (European) which was sent to Trump in support and encouragement. Directly, he called them the “deep state, and further described them as Satanic, children of darkness, offsprings of the Serpent, and forces of evil.

Most interestingly, he parallels a “deep church” to the “deep state,” that is, forces of evil deep within the church, (including the pope?) similar to the deep state or cabal in political structures.

Worth a read.

Bystanders and protesters were both targeted by police, looters, rioters and Agents don’t seem to be. Police appear to have been given stand down orders like in Charlottesville.
