Scott Adams Opines on a VP Pick

Scott thinks it will be Brown:

Of the remaining options, Scott Brown is probably the best fit to run for office on a ticket with the Master Persuader. Trump says he wants someone with legislative experience, and Brown has that. He’s also an ex-attorney with a good education. Smart. But he is also famously handsome. Attractiveness is more important than most other factors, whether we like to admit it or not.

Brown’s “flaws” as a Republican are the kind that will help in a general election. He’s in favor of abortion rights and banning assault rifles. Trump could make that work, one way or another. It plays to “common-sense conservative.”

Purely by persuasion he might be right, though the first thing I thought on hearing Trump-Brown was a clash of images. Trump is gilded in gold, pure and sterile. Brown is dirty and feces-like. It is like saying clean filth. Or high depression.

Regardless, not everything is purely persuasion. Brown is weak on guns, and Donald’s sons are diehard gun enthusiasts. No way would Don Jr. or Eric let their dad pick a guy who the NRA would be unhappy with. I think the only group truly immune to persuasion is gun owners. Our amygdalae light up at any infringement upon our rights, and there is no way to defuse the hit with words. Even though I didn’t vote for him, I actually was happy to see Clinton elected, because I was so pissed at Bush I over banning the import of 19 types of assault weapons, especially Heckler and Koch. Don Jr and Eric know this, so any anti-gun candidate is probably out of the question.

I still think Trump-West has the best ring. West as a word conjures the image of being one of only four directions, so it carries with it an all encompassing importance. It was also the direction pioneers went in, which would fit with Trump’s image of taking us in a new direction. The other reasons supporting him as the most persuading pick are almost endless. Allan West has the military credentials so he projects strength and power, the Military would love him given his renegade history in there, Black America would feel pride viewing him as a genuine American hero representing them, the Republican party would unify around him unhesitatingly, he is as good looking and more manly than Brown, and he carries the type of high-energy, aggressive reputation that Trump wants to project. Cruz voters would crawl over broken glass to vote for Trump if he picked West, so it would solve the Ted problem. He would probably deliver Florida. It would be tough to argue Trump is soliciting the support of the KKK or fomenting racial division. He would also not have to worry about West stabbing him in the back for the establishment.

That said, it was rumored Reagan hated George H.W. Bush, and only selected him as VP because the Bohemian Grove crew put the screws to him somehow once he got the nomination. To that end, Trump’s selection may tell us much about how the system works, behind the scenes. Either Trump is a force unto himself who does what he wants, or he will be forced out of necessity to compromise somewhere, and let the machine back in by choosing someone the establishment smiles down upon.

Only time will tell.

“let the machine back in by choosing someone the establishment smiles down upon.”
That might be signing his own death warrant.

I’m so happy! I want Allen West, too. You’re the first person I’ve heard put his name out there.

Trump did say, he’d pick a VP with strengths and qualities that match his own, someone who would be capable of continuing his work if that necessity ever arose.

Besides all the qualities you mentioned above, Allen West is well read. He ‘knows’ the worst enemies we face. The left and islam. He lives in there heads. And he knows how to destroy them.

West? Simply more of the cancer in America.
“Reagan hated George H.W. Bush”. I hated GHWB, Reagan should have dumped him in the re-election. Didn’t happen and we got 28 years of crap, filth, horror and destruction.
