“Waco Police” Say Suppressors Were Used

“Waco Police” say suppressors were used, located at the very end of this article Vox had linked to.

Those suppressors were not on 9mm handguns. If they were on rifles, then somebody had a procedure designed for if a gunfight were so aggressive that their sniper position might have come under fire if easily detected. I have no familiarity with local PD procedure for sniper teams, but I wonder if Waco PD, even tactical, would really routinely head out as if they were facing a highly trained enemy numerous enough to, and capable of, neutralizing their snipers. I could see federal counter-terror units however, routinely operating according to such procedures, even facing a rag-tag group of bikers.

I also wonder if local PDs even keep suppressors on hand for their tactical sniper teams, or if the suppressors really point to federal involvement. I have known various patrol officers my whole lives. I’ve lifted with them, trained and fought with them, had drinks with them, had them in my family, and just crossed paths with them and clicked. I have never known one who got into the line of work so they could kill someone. I don’t think I even knew one who did kill someone. They enjoyed helping people, and hoped they’d never shoot anyone.

When something goes as sideways as the Waco affair, I tend to think Ruby Ridge, before I think local PD “massacre.” Lon Horiuchi, not Patrol Officer Jones. If the whole affair had snipers with suppressed rifles on over-watch, and they were the ones who dropped everyone, then I would bet that the feds were really the ones running that show, and it will get more interesting before it is over. That we know so little, so long after the gunsmoke cleared, makes me think the evidence is surprising, to say the least.

I do not know what is going on at the federal level, but my suspicion is Obama has appointed some real incompetent nutjobs somewhere powerful, and they will destroy the reputation of the rank and file federal LE before all is said and done. Given the current direction, I assume before it is over even diehard, pro-LE conservatives will be relieved to see an inevitable Church-committee teardown of federal LE authority.

Either that, or we will just sit on our hands as the collapse unfolds, and let it all go away naturally when the money dries up. Either way, judging by the trajectory, I don’t see how things just keep advancing as they are.
