Tourists from China are avoiding France amid surging violence and crime, a Chinese tourism expert has said, reporting that customers are turning to Russia as a safer destination.
President of the Chinese Association of Travel Agencies in France, Jean-François Zhou, said “increasingly violent” thefts and assaults are turning France into “one of the worst destinations for foreign tourists”.
Mr. Zhou, a representative for major Chinese travel agency Utour in France, reported a steep decline in visitor numbers from Asia, and said many tourists are now looking to Russia as a less dangerous holiday destination.
And just like that, France’s r-strategists have eliminated a resource stream and pushed things toward K, as Russia’s K-strategists have created success and a new resource stream, which will ultimately push their nation toward r some day.

The analogies between evolutionary concepts such as parasitism and r/K selections, and civilization politics are so close. I am totally convinced that public education on these matters will facilitate adaptive responses to the danger of brutal regression in human spirit. In absence of the background information such as you provide, the responses are likely to be misdirected and incohate in the face of a polymorphic but coherently directed organization.
I agree. That is why I think this worthwhile. If we can focus the battle along the lines of r and K, rather than getting caught with K’s fighting K’s, it might change the long term outcome considerably. If society came out of the Apocalypse sufficiently K-ified, and knowing about r/K, it might be possible to create a pro-K societal structure that would last over time.
There is one thing I cannot manage to understand: if leftist are r strategist … why do they make so few children?
I know the theory that tells they compensate with migrants, but I cannot accept it, no matter how hard I try.
Conservatives (K) tends to have more babies than liberals (r) … it doesn’t match with r/K applied to politics.
I’m not against this theory, on the contrary, but this obvious objection is a kind of diffusion stopper.
Kids are not instinctual anymore, driven by sex drive. If Leftists loved kids, and wanted to have them, then in the ancient environment where these urges formed, they would have raised them intensively for long periods, because they would be programmed to want to. The brilliance is programming the mind to hate kids, and view them as irksome and burdensome, but have the production of them driven by sex drive and novelty-seeking.
Then you have a brain that produces lots of kids, and boots them out as fast as possible, r-style.
Where it fails is once the option is there to have the sex, and not have the kids. That has not yet been adapted to, but it will. Eventually you will have the traditional welfare princess who has fifteen different kids by twelve baby-daddies, and the Sarah Palin Conservative. The responsible, intellectual liberals who use birth control will have been culled back to a large degree.
I should add, r/K is about how politics was imbued, before we had technology like birth control. It is not about how it works today.
