Mitt Romney made an unsuccessful effort to recruit Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse as a third-party presidential candidate to challenge Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, a source with knowledge of the efforts confirmed to CNN Sunday.
Sasse, the freshman Republican, has emerged as one of Trump’s foremost critics from the right. Romney and Sasse have talked, the source said, and Romney encouraged Sasse to seriously consider a run…
But Sasse is refusing to enter the race…
At the Nebraska GOP convention, Sasse was rebuked through a resolution that was overwhelmingly approved by Republicans there who argued that his position would only help Hillary Clinton win the White House…
If Romney’s only goal was wanted to take out Trump, he would run himself. Among the Mormon community he is beloved, and with his organization he could probably cost Trump more states than an unknown like Sasse. This means that Romney knows running against Trump would be a suicide mission, and Romney is hoping he will be able to run in the next election – if he can just find some rube stupid enough to destroy himself and take Trump out now for him.
It is funny how Romney is so loathsome. He tries to trick others who share his views into committing political suicide for him, as he tries to screw the country and betray the entire movement by getting Hillary elected, all so he can fulfill his own personal dream of being President.
The only thing more unbelievable is I voted for him.

I did not vote for Romney and that was hard given the narcissistic and megalomaniacal Obama. I voted for Gary Johnson while knowing that my country was circling the drain.
The clincher for me was the Republican Primary debates of 2012. Ron Paul was the superstar and contrast with Romney. Romney appeared as a people-pleaser on amphetamines. That negative impression of Romney is branded in my brain.
Given all that — I STILL DON’T KNOW IF I VOTED CORRECTLY! Almost 4 years later!
But 2016 is the first election of ten that I am over-the-top enthused about. I think that a lot of Trump supporters feel the same.
